Avian Adventure Pontoon Boat Tour
Wed., Sat., & Sun. at 9 am & 10:15 am. One hour birding tour of the east end of Patagonia Lake. Help us locate and identify resident and migratory birds of the Sonoita Creek area. Call to register. Starts again on October 15.
Lake Discovery Pontoon Boat Tour
Wed., Sat., & Sun. at 11:30 am. One hour exploration of the west end of Patagonia Lake. Discover the vegetation, history, and beauty of Sonoita Creek and Patagonia Lake as we explore Ash Canyon, the dam, and Deep Cove. Call to register. Starts again on October 15.
Bird Walk
Mon., Tues., Wed., Thurs., call ahead for times. Meet at the Birding Trail Trailhead, located within Patagonia Lake State Park, to experience this two-hour birding adventure. Wear comfortable shoes and bring binoculars, field guide, and water. Starts again on October 15.
Junior Ranger Activity
Sat. at 2 pm & Sun. at 10:30 am. Kids and their adults are welcome to join us for an hour of discovery as we learn about nature, create fun nature crafts and learn how to become a Junior Ranger. Held at the Visitor Center. Starts again on October 15.
Twilight Pontoon Boat Tour
Saturdays, time varies. Enjoy the evening sights and sounds of Patagonia Lake’s riparian wildlife while exploring the entire lake. Call to register and for meeting time. Starts again on October 15.
Birding
The Natural Area offers exceptional birding opportunities. Over 300 resident and migratory bird species inhabit Sonoita Creek and Patagonia Lake including eastern, western, and accidental Mexican species such as the Elegant Trogon, Rufous-backed Robin, and the Black-capped Gnatcatcher. Birding hikes and boat tours are offered from October to May.
 
Tubac Presidio State park: On-Going Events
Tubaqueños Living History: 1st and 3rd Sundays, October through March, from 1 – 4 pm. Come experience the sights, sounds, and tastes of Tubac 1776 during these Spanish Colonial living history demonstrations.
Printing Press Demonstrations: 2nd & 4th Sundays, October – March, 10 am – 2 pm. Come celebrate the 150th anniversary of the printing press in Arizona! The Washington Press is original and printed the first newspaper in AZ, “The Weekly Arizonian” on March 3, 1859. Volunteers operate the press and reproduce the first edition of the paper.

The Eighth Annual Sonoita By Starlight Holiday Shopping Event
Friday December 4, Shops open until 9pm
Come join in the one night a year that Sonoita keeps the sidewalks
unrolled until 9pm. Holiday goodies, lights, music and unique gifts can be found at Buffalo Gals, Many Horses Trading Company, Nizhoni Ranch Gallery, Square Top Alpacas, & More You'll find local artisans and their crafts sharing the brick and mortar space with local merchants. Rain or shine, moon or stars, the sidewalks are firmly planted down for this one special night in Sonoita!

Sonoita Creek State Natural Area
Tuesday, January 12 at 8 am Five Mile Bird Hike. Bird several different habitats and see a variety of species with a guide. Hike begins in desert uplands and reaches Sonoita Creek. Bring sturdy shoes, binoculars, water and snacks. Hike is approximately five miles and four hours long. Call (520) 287-2791 to register. Meet at Visitor Center.  
Wednesday, January 20 at 9 am Vista Trail Hike Hike. in the desert uplands and view several  different mountain ranges with a volunteer. Hike is just over 6 miles. Bring sturdy shoes, binoculars, water and snacks. Call (520) 287-2791 to register. Meet at Visitor Center.        
Thursday, January 28 at 9 am Nature & History Hike. Learn about the history of the area with a little nature thrown in! Join local historian Greg Scott on this hike. Bring hiking shoes, water and snacks. Call (520) 287-2791 to register. Meet at Visitor Center.       
Friday, January 29 at 4:30 pm Moonlight Hike. Experience the wonderful view of Sonoita Creek and Patagonia Lake by moonlight. Wear sturdy shoes; bring water, a flashlight and perhaps a walking stick. Trail is moderately difficult with a 350 ft. elevation gain. Call (520) 287-2791 to register.  
 
Patagonia Woman's Club Benefit, "Music in the Key of Tea"
Thursday, January 14, 2pm at The Bay Restaurant in Kino Springs.
Enjoy a relaxing afternoon listening to the beautiful music of Pianist Christina Wilhelm along with a delectable High Tea.

Patagonia's Fifth Annual Writers' Roundup:
Saturday, Feb. 13, 10am - 3pm
Cady Hall, 346 Duquesne Avenue, Patagonia
This year will feature twenty-five notable writers from the region, many of whom have new books since last year's Round-Up. All will have books for sale and will be present to talk with readers. This book festival has something for everyone, featuring fiction, poetry, history, natural history, mystery, westerns, and children's literature.
A number of children's book writers will be with us, among them Roni Capin Ashford-Rivera, whose Hip,Hip,Hooray, It's Monsoon Day! is a OneBookArizona choice for 2009. Ashford-Rivera will read during the afternoon, as well as several other writers, on a schedule to be announced.

The 95th running of the Sonoita Horse Races will be at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds, April 24-25, and May 1-2. Post time: 1pm. Gates open 10:30am. Kentucky Derby simulcast wagering on May 1, 2010. Traditional Mint Juleps, great food and other concessions add to the fast fun of racing excitement. Admission: $3 for adults, children 12 and under: free. Free parking.
 
32nd Annual Blessing Of Sonoita Vineyards Festival
